Free Health and Resource Fair to be held at annual festival
As the Hispanic population in Lubbock increases, so does concern over health issues affecting the Hispanic community. In response to these concerns, Fiestas del Llano, Inc. (FDLI) will hold a free Health and Community Resource Fair at their annual festival.
“The Health and Community Resource Fair will address today’s high health risks and problems,” said Christy Martinez, FDLI board chairperson, “allowing participants time to ask questions and receive answers on a more personal level.”
The health and community resources fair will allow opportunities for festival attendees to pick up important information and receive a variety of health screening from a variety of exhibitors, while they attend the festival. The citywide health and resource fair will be held Friday, September 12, 2003 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Over the past four years “Fiestas Patrias”, an event produced by Fiestas del Llano Inc., has flourished, and continues to grow, leading it to become one of the most recognizably known festivals in West Texas. The annual festival draws thousands of people daily, and features food, games, cultural activities, and live music stages.
