Local talent encouraged to participate in annual festival

Because Lubbock holds such a wealth of local talent, Fiestas del Llano Inc. is encouraging local musicians, dance groups, and other entertainers to participate in this year’s festival. The 16th of September holiday, locally celebrated as the Fiestas Patrias, has become a community wide event that encourages participation from all Lubbock residents.

Event organizers said that because Lubbock holds such a vast amount of talented entertainers, they wanted to showcase the music variety. They especially encouraged local artists to tap into a crowd with a variety of musical and entertainment needs.

Over the past four years “Fiestas Patrias”, an event produced by Fiestas del Llano Inc., has flourished, and continues to grow, leading it to become one of the most recognizably known festivals in West Texas. The annual festival draws thousands of people daily, and features food, games, cultural activities, and live music stages.

Entertainers in the West Texas area are encouraged to mail music demos, or dance troupe backgrounds to: P. O. Box 94814, Lubbock, Texas 79493, by August 8, 2002, to be considered. Entertainers can also contact fiestas through their website at www.fiestasdelllano.org/Fiesta.asp
