Fiestas del Llano, Inc. names new Executive Board & 2004 “Fiestas Patrias” Festival Chairs

With the recent announcement by Christy Martinez, former Board Chair of Fiestas del Llano, Inc., who accepted a position as Assistant Director of Public Information for the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) in Washington, D.C., the Board of Directors of Fiestas del Llano, Inc. named its new Executive Board and Festival Chairs.
Susie Juarez, a small business owner, will serve as Board Chair; Frank Garcia, a corporate sales executive, will serve as Vice Chair; Dolores Harper, a facilities and operations manager, will serve as Secretary; Johnny Torres, a banker, will serve as Treasurer; and Frank Gutierrez, a telecommunications manager, will serve as Parliamentarian.
The 2004 “Fiestas Patrias” Festival Co-Chairs will be Sam Harper and Frank Garcia. The festival will be held September 15 through September 19th, at its 21-year location, the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Further, Board member Mary Jane Gutierrez will serve as the Miss Hispanic Lubbock Scholarship Pageant Chair. Pageant Committee Member, Rosa Salazar, will serve as Pageant Co-Chair.
In addition, the Board of Directors is now preparing for its Cinco de Mayo “ˇSi Se Puede!” Scholarships and Awards Banquet, which will be chaired by committee member, Robert Trejo, on Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
During the transition, Martinez will serve as Ex-Officio, and will assist as an advisor to the festival and the pageant. Further, she will continue to spearhead the Hispanic Cultural Center initiative.
