A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD   BOARD OF DIRECTORS

We the Fiestas del Llano, Inc. Board of Directors, welcome you to our website. This site was created with the goals of affording visitors insight into our organization's History and Lubbock's Hispanic community. As you visit our site please keep our slogan "Embracing Hispanic Culture, Observing and Sustaining Tradition." in mind.

Formally incorporated in 1986, the Fiestas del Llano traces it's roots to Lubbock's early Hispanic leaders. Our History webpage, chronicles this story and gives a rudimentary overview of our local Hispanic community. Many pages on our site provide additional historical information.

Other pages inform the visitor about our traditional events and the FDL's latest endeavors. Our best know event is the 16 de Septiembre (Sept 16,) Mexico's Independence Day festival. Commonly known as the "Fiestas Patrias", our yearly event sheds light on an important historical event. The scope of this event is vast and many links on this site are dedicated to the celebration. Yet while we FDL, Inc. are closely associated with our "Fiestas Patrias" we hold other yearly events. As one of our board members pointed out "We're not just the Fiestas."

Other events include; the Miss Hispanic Lubbock Pageant, the "Si Se Puede" Awards & Scholarship Banquet, and our  16 de Septiembre Parade. By presenting scholarships at The Miss Hispanic Pageant, conducted during the 16 de Septiembre celebrations, and the "Si Se Puede" Awards & Scholarships Banquet, held on the Cinco de Mayo, we combine the observation of Historically important dates with the promise of our future. This theme of remembering our past and creating our destiny is one of the guiding forces in our milestone endeavor, the Hispanic Cultural Center of Lubbock.

Fiestas del Llanos Hispanic Cultural Center of Lubbock will embrace our ideals. Hopefully, it will become this region's premier showcase for our Hispanic heritage and it's contribution to the development of Lubbock. Conceived as a multi-use facility the Hispanic Cultural Center will also provide services and facilities for other organizations, groups, families and individuals. Our goal is for those interested in our region's Hispanic legacy, arts, and entertainment to visit our facility.

Again welcome to our site and remember our goal "Embracing Hispanic Culture, Observing and Sustaining Tradition."

Gracias!
